Words and Whatnot

Hi there readers šŸ™‚

Throwing a bit of an update your way. Since I’ve decided to write more things than just War of the Sisters, I tweaked the header/name of this site. Now it’s called Words and Whatnot, because I’m super creative with titles. The URL is staying the same because I haven’t changed my name.

Out of Darkness: 49 sales 😮 (I thought I had 52 the other day, but I’d accidentally counted some twice :o. Oops. )

Out of Light: 32k words into the rewrite. Man, I sure missed these characters, it’s nice to ‘see’ them again. I can already see a lot of nonsense I’m goingĀ  to cut next draft. I should cut them now, but I’m notĀ quite ready to kill my darlings.

Other Projects: Well, I have three things on back burner that are all started and in various stages of outlines. (From 1k words to about 30k)Ā  Plus another outline for a book in War of the Sisters’ world. But they’re all still cooking so that’s as good an update as y’all get!

Non-Writing: I’m rereading Way of Kings. I like Sanderson. I’m pretty sure I have like three other books I’m supposed to be reading, but I got distracted. (Not surprising.)

Okay, bye! ā¤

Second Draft? Done.

War of the Sisters, book 1, draft 2 is now done.

Starting words: 87,299

Ending Words: 82,489

I swear I had lost more than that, either that or I somehow gained more words overnight .-.

I know thereĀ is some stuff I’m going to need to add just based on the feedback I’ve gotten already but, my beta readers have it, and I will wait till they’re finished with it to start a third pass to clean up any plot holes, inconsistencies, whatnot. In the meantime, I’m going to rest, read, and learn.

Thanks for reading!

shameless gofundme link.

Who needs titles anyway, really?

I should save this update for next week, but I’m not gonna. Draft 2 of WOTS1 is nearly done. I’m at Chapter 44 of 51 for edits. (Which right now is about 10k words right now, but it will probably shorten.)

I have lost nearly 10k words, just as I thought. Unless I add something drastic in the upcoming chapters. (Which I very well might, I don’t know yet.)

After this, I absolutelyĀ must take a break before I go back over it for a third pass. I was originally going to jump right into WOTS2’s second draft but I think that’s making it harder to write book 1 because I’m remembering things from book two and forgetting they haven’t happened yet in book one so need to be explained.

Oh, and I still need two titles. But who even uses those? .-.

Slacker!

Hello readers, followers, whatever you call yourselves. I should probably update or at least make a post.

I took a week or so off from editing, (slacker!) I was getting too wrapped up in everything and needed a rest. I’m back on it this week. But I think I’m going to try and do editing/writing three days a week instead of six. I think I was getting away from enjoying it and treating it in a way that made it very unfun.

I made a patreon to go with my gofundme just because someone on twitter reminded me that it existed.

Editing on book 1 is almost done, though I’m no closer to a title. I’ve got a list of questions I need to find a way to go back and answer but I think I’m going to save those for the next revision set.

Given the cuts that have taken place already, I think book 1 is going to end up losing about 10k words, putting it at about 75k words by the time it’s done.

That pretty much ends my update, have a good night y’all!

Grammarly, my Amusement with Spam Comments, and Book Updates

Grammarly was on sale the other day, so I bought it. I’m a sucker for sales I guess. I’ve learned I comma splice a lot and that I also forget to use commas in appropriate places. I forget theĀ name for it now.

Now on to my amusement with spam comments. I check Akismet or whatever it’s called every few days, and the spam comments are pretty amusing. They moved on from just putting junk to putting nearly perfectly worded compliments on blogs. I think, a few weeks ago, I actually un-spammed one because I fell for it! I don’t know why that amuses me, but it does.

Regarding War of the Sisters itself, I’m still bouncing back and forth on making it one vs. two books. On the one hand, with two books I don’t have to make any additional chapters. It splits in a nice place and a time jump wouldn’t be too unexpected between two books. On the other hand, if I make it one book I don’t have to think of two titles.

And that is the end of my rambling. Have fun, readers!
