I Got Bored, and then I Rambled.

So, a couple days ago I was bored and unsupervised and bought the little WordPress plan that lets me customize my domain name. Now I’m amberjademccracken.com instead of warofthesisters.wordpress.com I thought that was pretty nifty because I’m easily amused.  It seems to automatically redirect so I don’t think anyone has to do anything. I also put a new theme on, which promptly deleted all my widgets. They are back now, but that was super fun.

It’s only been a couple days since my last update, so I don’t have anything too interesting to say. I’m on chapter 31/49 on my readthrough of my paper copy. I’m moving things around, cutting a little. Killing my darlings so to speak. You know, the fun stuff.

I realized today there are quite a few steps AFTER editing that I’m going to have to deal with soon. Like summarizing, finding a cover, having someone do another read through to point out anything I’ve missed on my other read-throughs. More fun stuff.

This has all been a lot more work than I expected but it’s also been more fun than I expected too.

Anyway, thanks for reading, y’all have a good night!

Mid-March MUpdate.

I wanted all the words to start with M. No reason, it just amused me. Also is it just me or did the post layout switch sides? I swear everything used to be on my left o.O?

Anyway, how is War of the Sisters 1 doing, you ask? Not bad. I’m halfway (more or less) through reading through the hard copy and marking it up as I go along. A lot more red than I expected but I think I’m polishing it up real nice for everyone.

Everywhere I’ve written it down I’ve titled it ‘Out of Darkness’ so I’m thinking that’s the title I picked. I like it. (Two will be called ‘Out of Light’ unless I find something I like better.)

Camp NaNoWriMo is next month. My tentative goal is to finish the read-through of my hard copy by the end of March and begin typing/editing the electronic copy for Camp. As long as I stick with my chapter/two chapters per day read through I should be able to do that.

That is my whole update, but below the ‘read more’ line is the most recent version of my prologue if anyone wants to take a read. 🙂

Grammarly, my Amusement with Spam Comments, and Book Updates

Grammarly was on sale the other day, so I bought it. I’m a sucker for sales I guess. I’ve learned I comma splice a lot and that I also forget to use commas in appropriate places. I forget the name for it now.

Now on to my amusement with spam comments. I check Akismet or whatever it’s called every few days, and the spam comments are pretty amusing. They moved on from just putting junk to putting nearly perfectly worded compliments on blogs. I think, a few weeks ago, I actually un-spammed one because I fell for it! I don’t know why that amuses me, but it does.

Regarding War of the Sisters itself, I’m still bouncing back and forth on making it one vs. two books. On the one hand, with two books I don’t have to make any additional chapters. It splits in a nice place and a time jump wouldn’t be too unexpected between two books. On the other hand, if I make it one book I don’t have to think of two titles.

And that is the end of my rambling. Have fun, readers!

An about page!

I finally got around to making an about page, much better than my outdated ‘explanation post.’

I don’t really have any updates, just working on the rewrite at the moment. Posting my summary from my about page here as well. Hopefully, it sounds as good here as it did in my head!

In the beginning, there were the Sisters, who created the heavens and the earth. They filled their creation with creatures of every imagining and created children in their image.  And when they were done, they rested. A long time passed, and they’ve woken to a humanity they didn’t expect. one they aren’t exactly pleased with. Lilith and Asherah  have far different views on how to ‘fix’ it.

NaNoWriMo2016

Of course, I didn’t forget about y’all, I started NaNo on the first, rebelling a bit because I’m working on the rewrite of book 2. (Which is going to be a LOT of work.)

Because of the ‘cheating’ I’m aiming for 100k words this month, instead of the normal 50k. Which is 3334 words per day (give or take.) I’ve been doing well. I’m posting my word count on my twitter every day, so I’m not going to post it here too.

(I’m already posting it in my NaNotebook, my NaNo calendar, the NaNo Website and Twitter. I really don’t need more places.)

I’m on target, I’ll update again when I hit any interesting milestones 🙂
