Who needs titles anyway, really?

I should save this update for next week, but I’m not gonna. Draft 2 of WOTS1 is nearly done. I’m at Chapter 44 of 51 for edits. (Which right now is about 10k words right now, but it will probably shorten.)

I have lost nearly 10k words, just as I thought. Unless I add something drastic in the upcoming chapters. (Which I very well might, I don’t know yet.)

After this, I absolutely must take a break before I go back over it for a third pass. I was originally going to jump right into WOTS2’s second draft but I think that’s making it harder to write book 1 because I’m remembering things from book two and forgetting they haven’t happened yet in book one so need to be explained.

Oh, and I still need two titles. But who even uses those? .-.

Slacker!

Hello readers, followers, whatever you call yourselves. I should probably update or at least make a post.

I took a week or so off from editing, (slacker!) I was getting too wrapped up in everything and needed a rest. I’m back on it this week. But I think I’m going to try and do editing/writing three days a week instead of six. I think I was getting away from enjoying it and treating it in a way that made it very unfun.

I made a patreon to go with my gofundme just because someone on twitter reminded me that it existed.

Editing on book 1 is almost done, though I’m no closer to a title. I’ve got a list of questions I need to find a way to go back and answer but I think I’m going to save those for the next revision set.

Given the cuts that have taken place already, I think book 1 is going to end up losing about 10k words, putting it at about 75k words by the time it’s done.

That pretty much ends my update, have a good night y’all!

Grammarly, my Amusement with Spam Comments, and Book Updates

Grammarly was on sale the other day, so I bought it. I’m a sucker for sales I guess. I’ve learned I comma splice a lot and that I also forget to use commas in appropriate places. I forget the name for it now.

Now on to my amusement with spam comments. I check Akismet or whatever it’s called every few days, and the spam comments are pretty amusing. They moved on from just putting junk to putting nearly perfectly worded compliments on blogs. I think, a few weeks ago, I actually un-spammed one because I fell for it! I don’t know why that amuses me, but it does.

Regarding War of the Sisters itself, I’m still bouncing back and forth on making it one vs. two books. On the one hand, with two books I don’t have to make any additional chapters. It splits in a nice place and a time jump wouldn’t be too unexpected between two books. On the other hand, if I make it one book I don’t have to think of two titles.

And that is the end of my rambling. Have fun, readers!

Goals, Goals, Goals.

Not to be confused with girls, girls, girls.

Goals, it’s the first of the year and everyone is wanting to dream big. Myself included. I sat down to write out some yearly goals (I refuse to call them resolutions) and realized they are all nebulous things. “Finish WOTS” That is a goal, of sorts, but it’s along the same lines as setting a goal of “Lose Weight” or “Exercise More.” Both of those are good goals, but they aren’t workable goals.

I’ve been trying to make this more concrete for the past week and I have nothing. I’ve been rewriting chapters (nearly) every day, so I don’t really have to do much to improve there. I mean, of course, my writing can always improve but I can’t write more every day than every day. I’ve been giving chapters to my beta-reader and taking her advice on things that could be fleshed out or cut. (Mostly) (Hi, beta-reader.)

You know, I started this blog post with a point in mind and I sort of lost it. I may have gotten distracted by the TV. Happy New Year’s everyone.
