Camp NaNoWriMo Days 20-23 (Winning.)

Well, in case the title didn’t spoil it, I won Camp Nano this year!! I may have teared up… (again.)  My goal this month was 51k words. I don’t know why it just seemed like a good amount. I just passed that and I am quite pleased.

I think even when I first started writing I would never have thought I would have written over 150k words in the same world.

150,000 words.

That’s insanity to me that that many words could have come from me tripping over a rock on a bad day. I think I’ve finally hit a rhythm on E1 (God, I need to think of a title.) and have dug some more story out of it that I didn’t know was there.

If I can do this, I can do anything.

Anyway, I should be writing.

Camp NaNoWriMo Days 14 & 15

Well, I skipped a day again. I can’t say I’m surprised, and neither can you!

Day 14: 1060. Turns out that fun writing assignment broke me for a day. Was hard to get back into my regular point of view. That or I didn’t have enough sleep!

Day 15: 2,429 Tody was still a bit hard. Took me a bit to get my rhythm and then suddenly I was well over my goal with no recollection of what I had written. But that’s actually a good thing, it usually it means I got really into what I was writing.

Grand Total: 34671

In other news, I have come up with 2 new character names AND a rename for the scavs!

Anna is now Morgan, Alex is now Everly and the dreaded Scav’s are now known as the Clickers. (That makes sense in context.)

The Clickers are a savage race. They care for nothing and no one, hardly even their own. They weave their armor from the remnants of whatever they can find. Bones, rusty screws, teeth and bits of metal from rusted cars. When you hear the clicky-clack men coming, you’re already in trouble.

Camp NaNoWriMo Day 13 and an Interview with a Main Character!

Ha! I remembered to update today!!

Words today: “On Topic”: 1741 | “Off Topic”: 1160 Daily Total: 2901 (Project Total: 31,182)

Now, you are probably asking yourself what I mean by “On topic,” and “Off topic.”  If you’re not, well, now I’ve asked the question for you.

Today, I participated in an exercise I had seen written about on either twitter, or tumblr or reddit. (I forgot where I saw it.)  I decided to start a conversation, or interview, with one of my main characters.

I chose Lilith, but I didn’t actually get to speak with her quite yet. Instead, another recently created character came to talk to me.Her name is Sevannah, and I must say she was a cute child.

This was one of the most fun writing exercises that I have done. I wrote it in first person POV, unlike my actual book. It really put me in the situation. It actually helped me a lot with a conversation that she starts having in the book, which led me to the 1741 words that I wrote on-topic today.  I thought of sharing it, but I would have to wait until the full book was out because there are spoilers.

I also found out that my dear Lilith is quite tired of wearing white and being cold. She would really like to wear yellow because it makes her feel closer to the sun that she created.

Thanks for reading, let me know in the comments if you have ever had an interview with your characters! And if you haven’t, spend one of your writing sessions doing that. You may learn something surprising!

Camp NaNoWriMo Days 11 & 12

Well, again, I’m terrible at doing this daily. So maybe I’ll make it a thing to do this every other day.

Day 11: For this day, I wrote 3500 words. I wrote a long scene from a character I had the idea for a few nights ago before bed. I did not want my story to just say “It’s now 300 years later.” I wanted something longer than that. So I wrote a mostly internal dialogue from this character, he went over how long he had been alive, and how long it had been.

Day 12: I killed the previously mentioned character. But he really, really wanted it, so I’m not a bad person. Today I wrote a little over 2500 words. I am now sitting at just under 30k words. The only problem with the scene I wrote today, is that it kind of overwrites a scene I wrote a long while back. So I have to either go in and erase it, or I go in and edit it so that it falls in line with this post. It explains a bit more about The Plan, so I will probably be editing that scene tomorrow.

I know, theoretically, that I’m supposed to leave my NaNoProject alone until I’m done, but I can’t finish the story if I don’t have a plan!

Anna still doesn’t have a name. A few choices I’ve come across or have been suggested to me by forum friends. Everly, (Or Everleigh.) Emerie, and Chloe. None of those names seem quite right yet. So I will continue to look. (Everly is my favorite of them all right now, though.)

Thanks for reading!
